What Does This Do?

Prorate Billing Increments will split the hourly rates between rate zones in conjunction with splitting the billing increments.

Where is This Setting?

The Prorate Billing Increments? checkbox is found on any Rate Plan > General tab and is used in conjunction with the Split Charges? checkbox.

What Else Needs to be Configured?

The Rate Zones > Premium Zone needs additional entries to define after hours or premium rates when using this feature.

Rate Zone Entries

M-Fri set time 17:00 to 23:59 – this invokes the Premium rate for prorated billing increments after hours.

Add an additional entry for Monday from 00:01 to 07:59 to invoke the Premium rate.

For example

Standard Rate Zone - Business Hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm M-F

Premium Rate Zone – After Hours are 5:00 pm to 7:59 am M-F and all day Saturday and Sunday

The rate plan has a 60 minute billing increment and a 120 minute minimum duration

A job scheduled from 3:15 pm to 5:15 pm crosses from the Standard (business hours) rate zone to the Premium (after hours) rate zone, and will bill as follows: 1.75 hrs at Standard rate and 0.25 at Premium rate.

In summary, to use "Prorate Billing Increments" all zone segments need to be specified.

Note: If an agency is NOT using Prorate Billing Increments, then the Premium Rate Zone does not need all hours of each day entered; only one entry for any given day will invoke the default behavior whereby any days/hours that fall outside of the Standard Rate Zone will be billed at Premium rates.
