Video - Recurring Jobs Functionality Explained (4 min w/ audio & captions)

Enhanced Recurring functionality for Daily, Weekly & Monthly Recurrences
This feature introduces increased flexibility with Recurring Jobs, allowing users to set Recurrences for single or multiple days over various weeks & months.

Daily
There are no changes to functionality for Daily Occurrences with the exception of a new ‘Every’ value which facilitates recurring Jobs every 2, 3, 4 days etc. Setting this to a 2 means the job will recur every other day.

Weekly
Recurrences can be set for multiple days in a week as per existing functionality but includes a new ‘Every’ value to schedule every 2, 3, 4 weeks etc. rather than every week. Setting this to a 2 means that the job recurs every other week.

As per existing functionality, Recurrences can be set for a specific number of instances or up to a specific date.

This will also be useful for Daily Recurrences where certain days of the week are excluded such as weekends.

Monthly

The Monthly option also includes a new ‘Every’ value which facilitates recurring Jobs every 2, 3, 4 months etc. as well as a ‘Specific date’ (dd) or 'Week of the month' option for monthly recurrences to take place.

  • Specific Date’ - e.g. 31 - a Job will be created every on the 31st of every calendar month (depending on the ‘Every’ value) or on the last date of the month where a given month does not have 31 days. Note - Only enter in the day of the month in this field (e.g. 7 or 15 or 31).

Example: Select Every 2 Month(s) and Repeat On a Specific Date select 15; this means the job will be scheduled for the 15th every other month.
  • Week of the month’ - first, second, third, fourth, last. This option also allows the user to select multiple days of the week within the week of the month selected. Note the first week does not indicate the first calendar week necessarily, it is the first occurrence of the selected days of week within the month (as calendar weeks will not always fall neatly as 1st to 7th). For example, if a job is set to recur M-F on the first week of every month, for October 2024, the result would be jobs created on the days as highlighted below 1st to 4th and the 7th. • Each week of the month corresponds to specific dates within the month:
First Week = the 1st occurrence of the days of week selected within the calendar month i.e. between 1st & 7th of the month (inclusive)
Second Week = the 2nd occurrence of the days of week selected within the calendar month i.e. between 8th & 14th (inclusive)
Third Week = the 3rd occurrence of the days of week selected within the calendar month i.e. between 15th & 21st (inclusive)
Fourth Week = the 4th occurrence of the days of week selected within the calendar month i.e. between 22nd & 28th (inclusive)
Last Week = the last occurrence of the days of week selected within the calendar month i.e. between 25th-31st (inclusive on 31 day months)
Last Week = day 24th-30th (inclusive on 30 day months)
Last Week = day 22nd-28th (inclusive for February - non leap year)
Last Week = day 22nd-29th (inclusive for February - leap year)

Notes:

Recurrence starts on’ has been renamed to ‘Original Job Start Date’ and is grayed out/disabled - this cannot be edited within the Recurring functionality as this would reschedule the original Job - the tooltip explains this to the user. If the user desires to edit the original job start date, that can be done from the Job Details page itself.

Recurring schedules are based on a Sunday to Saturday week as presented in the UI. if a Job is scheduled to Recur on a Sunday & Monday, the 1st Recurrence will be scheduled for Sunday.

Recurrences are limited to 1 year (from the expected start date of the original job):

If the ‘By’ value entered is more than 1 year from the expected start date of the original Job, an error message will be returned “End date must be within one year of the start date”, the user will need to modify the ‘By’ value to within 1 year to proceed.

There is no validation on the ‘After’ value as this limit will vary depending on how the Job is recurring e.g. max on every day would be 365. Regardless of the value entered in this field, the 1 year rule will apply i.e. Jobs will be created only up to 1yr from the expected start date of the original job.

There is validation on each of the fields for the appropriate input. Numerical fields will only accept numbers, date fields will only accept valid dates, etc.
