To add a Language

  • Start typing the Language in the 2nd row of the grid and select from the options presented
  • Code - this is the ISO code for the Language and cannot be updated
  • Language - this is the ISO Language name and cannot be updated
  • Alias - this is the ISO alias and cannot be updated
  • Alternate - this is an alternate name for the language, also part of the ISO naming convention and cannot be updated.
  • Default - you can mark a single language as Default and this will be the language that will  automatically populate the Language field by default on the Job Details page - a different language can be selected on any Booking.
  • Enabled/Scheduled Checkboxes work in conjunction
    • Enabled - if a Language is required for Bookings it must be Enabled. If you no longer use a Language you can disable it by unchecking this box. This is the master 'on/off' switch for any language.
    • Scheduled - It is important to check this box if the language should display for scheduled jobs.
      • Scheduled is checked and Enabled is checked, and no on-demand boxes are checked: Users will see this language in the drop-down list of Languages for scheduled jobs (Face to Face, etc.) on the Job Details page. The language will not be available for any on-demand service types.
      • Scheduled is not checked and Enabled is checked: Users will not be able to select the language for any scheduled jobs (e.g. Face to Face, 3rd party video, etc.).
      • Scheduled is not checked and Enabled is checked, and any of the OPI or VRI boxes are checked: The language is available for on-demand calls only (Internal OPI, Internal VRI, BPIN OPI, BPIN VRI). Please note that any references to BPIN will soon be updated to BHUB in the Interpreter Intelligence platform.
      • Scheduled is checked, Enabled is checked and any on-demand boxes are checked: The language is available for scheduled service types and any of the corresponding on-demand selections.
  • Internal OPI - Enabling this indicates that the language is available for On-Demand OPI jobs performed by your local interpreters.
  • Internal VRI - Enabling this indicates that the language is available for On-Demand VRI jobs performed by your local interpreters.
  • BPIN OPI (aka BHUB) - Once a language is enabled you can choose if you want it to also be available for On Demand OPI jobs by checking this box. This flag will not have any impact on selecting a language for a scheduled job. If the checkbox is grey-out and cannot be selected, this indicates that this language is not a BHUB-supported language.
  • BPIN VRI (aka BHUB) - Once a language is enabled you can choose if you want it to also be available for On Demand VRI jobs by checking this box. This flag will not have any impact on selecting a language for a scheduled job. If the checkbox is grey-out and cannot be selected, this indicates that this language is not a BHUB-supported language.
  • Show Alias - enabling this will allow you to type/search using the Alias when creating Bookings, however it is the Language Name that will always appear on the Booking and on notifications.
  • Show Alternate Names - enabling this will allow you to type/search using the Alternate Name when creating Bookings, however it is the Language Name that will always appear on the Booking and on notifications.
  • Use Preferred Name & Preferred Name - this can be set by you, the Agency, can then search by the Preferred name on the booking and that is the name that will appear on the booking form if you have enabled Use Preferred Name. Note that email Notifications will always show the Language Name
  • Language code - this can be set by you, the Agency, for use with the On Demand Phone service using IVR (i.e. on demand requests for OPI using phone). Rather than using the Language Code to request the preferred language using the IVR service, you can set an alternate more friendly number in this field, for example, you might assign numbers 1 through 5 for the 5 most popular languages requested by Customers. Please contact Support if you would like to use this option so it can be set up on the back-end of the system.
  • When making any changes to a Language entry, be sure to click on the Save icon on the far left of the row, see screenshot below.
  • If you have/will never use a specific Language you can remove it using the x icon below the save icon; if the Language has been used on any Bookings use the Enabled check box as per above instructions.
