The Manage Contacts grid includes both an ID column and a Ref column. These columns display either the system-generated interpreter ID or the interpreter’s Accounting Reference, depending on whether the Accounting Reference field has been manually updated.
Default Behavior
When an interpreter profile is created, the system automatically generates an interpreter ID.
By default, this ID displays in the following places (see screenshots below):
- The Accounting Reference field on the interpreter profile
- The sidebar of the interpreter profile
- The ID column on the Manage Contacts grid
- The Ref column on the Manage Contacts grid
What Happens When the Accounting Reference Is Updated?
If the Accounting Reference field on the interpreter profile is manually updated, the Manage Contacts grid will update to display the new Accounting Reference value.
After the Accounting Reference is updated:
- The ID column on the Manage Contacts grid displays the manually entered Accounting Reference.
- The Ref column on the Manage Contacts grid displays the manually entered Accounting Reference.
- The original system-generated interpreter ID no longer displays on the Manage Contacts grid.
What Does Not Change?
The interpreter profile sidebar always displays the original system-generated interpreter ID.
This value does not change, even if the Accounting Reference field is manually updated.
Example
If an interpreter profile is created with a system-generated ID of 12345, that ID initially appears in the Accounting Reference field, the interpreter profile sidebar, and both the ID and Ref columns on the Manage Contacts grid.
If the Accounting Reference field is later updated to ABC-100, the Manage Contacts grid will display ABC-100 in both the ID and Ref columns. However, the interpreter profile sidebar will continue to display the original system-generated ID, 12345.
Summary
The Manage Contacts grid reflects the current Accounting Reference value. The interpreter profile sidebar always preserves and displays the original system-generated interpreter ID.
